Movie Review: Kasal

Lia Marquez (Bea Alonzo) is a simple lass who is set to marry Cebu's most eligible bachelor Philip Cordero (Paulo Avelino), who is currently running to clinch the mayoral position after his father's term ends. However, things get complicated when Lia's ex-boyfriend Wado dela Costa (Derek Ramsay) returns to work for them in a project that will help Philip win the elections. Inevitably, feelings resurface and doubts arise.

As we get closer to the wedding day, Lia becomes unsure if she is choosing the right man to marry, torn between the man from her past and the man she's building a future with.

Kasal is worth seeing because of its stellar cast making this film as the major drama movie event of the year. What can you ask more with Cherie Gil, Ricky Davao, Christopher De Leon, Celeste Legaspi, Cris Villonco (which stand out in this film) and of course the three of the bankable and coveted actor and actress of their generation, Derek Ramsay, Paulo Avelino and Bea Alonzo. Derek Ramsay is truly the top leading man for film in recent years. He shows his villain side in this film that you'll surely get mad to him after watching this. Paulo Avelino as always is a reliable actor that we have which showcase ranges of emotion on his character that definitely remarkable.

Bea Alonzo as always is pleasant to watch on silver screen that gave us an affecting performance in Kasal that challenge herself more as an actress. Of course I love the theme song of the film Tagpuan by Moria, which emotion of the song parallels into film. Kasal will absolutely give you a never ending surprises that will make you hook as the story unfolds. Kasal is not only a film about the journey of getting married but also the journey of Wado, Philip and Lia in resolving their dilemma in life. Overall Kasal  is a campy touching film that will show you what love and acceptance are all about.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
