Movie Review: Changing Partners

Based on the Palanca Award-winning play by Vincent de Jesus, Changing Partner is a bittersweet exploration of relationships told in perspectives of various genders. The love story, shown through the perspective of different genders, paints how a real relationship works. It eschews the narrative for emotions and established that love knows no gender when it pains or soothes, when it hurts and heals.

Came from the solid screenplay and stage adaptation, Changing Partners film adaptation succeeds for giving the audience a faithful adaptation that inherits the full potential of this award winning screenplay. Natural, smooth flowing and you’ll feel the emotion of each character. Kudos for the four leads Agot, Sandino, Anna and Jojit for delivering in their dual roles that requires distinction. The editing and direction is commendable for orchestrating a seamless change in each scenes that doesn’t interrupt the thread of the story but the dynamic shifts accordingly. This is an additional in the roster of Dan Villegas films that you will love. Changing Partners is a universal film that everyone can relate especially for those trapped in a relationship that will eventually break. Changing Partners hits mainstream cinemas nationwide starting January 31 2018.

My Verdict: 4/5
