Movie Review: Crazy Beautiful You

A spoiled young girl is forced to tag along with her mom on a medical mission in Tarlac. There she meets a young man from a different world who shows her another side of life.

This film was one of those movies that a Kathniel fan, teen-agers and young at heart should not missed. I really enjoyed it. A lot of this is due to the fact that Daniel is thoroughly charming throughout the film. And merge him with the equally charming Kathryn Bernardo, and you’ve got a brilliant combination. I fell in love with the character of Kiko ( Daniel Padilla) as a responsible brother to his siblings and son to his mother and I felt the extra baggage of Jackie and her angst to the world through the pain that she fell when she was left by her mother (Lorna Tolentino) at a young age. Kiko and Jackie cross paths, define true meaning of love, bring out the best in one another and fall in love with each other. Despite the rivalry with Kiko's half brother Marcus (Iñigo Pascual), still nothing can't stop them to show they true feelings. I also like the back story of Kiko on the challenges that he had to take for his family. There is one particular scene here the one with his step mother that is very symbolic and sway me of his story. Good thing about this film that sometimes a mainstream romantic film lacks is the delivery of the back story that effectively conveys here.

Kathniel carries the film and makes the audience fall in love with them. It’s a sweet story without any huge conflict, but it works so well as a countryside film. And it doesn’t hurt having the film take place against the beautiful landscape of Tarlac that effectively utilized in the film.  Overall, Crazy Beautifu You makes a perfect date movie, with a nice blend of romance and right share of comedy. One of the well made local mainstream romantic comedy film that I watched recently.

My Verdict: 4/5
