Movie Review: Four Sisters and a Wedding

Four sisters and a wedding is the kick off 20^th anniversary offering of Star Cinema. A comedy drama family film featuring the 4 bankable actress of their generation Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao and Bea Alonzo. Unhappy with their younger brother's choice for a fiancée, four sisters connive to sabotage the impending wedding.

Makatotohanan at napapanahon ang story ng pelikulang ito. 4 na magkakapatid na muling magkakasama sama para sa kasal ng bunso nilang kapatid na lalaki. Ito rin ang pagkakataon upang harapin ang personal issues nila sa isat isa at sa

pamilya nila. Ito ay istorya ng isang modernong pamilyang Pilipino. Marami ang makakarelate sa pelikulang ito lalo na ang mga pamilyang may kapamilya na nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa na miss na miss mo na at gusto mo ng pauwiin.

Nag umpisa ng masaya ang pelikula, mabilis ang tinakbo ng istorya ng sa kalaunan ay naging mabigat na drama. Mahusay ang flow and transition ng movie na unti unti pagdating sa dulo ay natumbok ang puso ng pelikula. Good story, balance at makatotohanan yung mga side story na nilagay kina Toni, Angel and Bea nagustuhan ko iyon. Witty and realistic screenplay. Makatotohanan ang dialogue na ibinato ng mga character lalo na doon sa confrontation scene ni Bea and Angel sa monologue ni Bea and sa breakdown scene ni Ms. Coney Reyes. For the comedy part sakto lang timpla para bumalanse sa drama ng pelikula.

Let’s go to the acting performance of the four, first is Toni Gonzaga na siyang nagdala sa comedy part ng pelikula no question for that mahusay siyang magpatawa. Runner up for comedy is Angel Locsin which is a revelation on this movie. This proves her versatility as an actress. She delivers natural acting on her character na astig na palaban na babae, you will really see it on her nuances and action. Same with Shaina in her character that most needed nuances as youngest sister na may maternal instinct wala siyang masyadong dialogue at side story sa movie pero naipakita niya through her action what she really  is . And for me ang pianaka nagshine sa pelikulang ito is Bea Alonzo rehistro palang niya sa kamera ramdam na ramdam na, parang siyang brilyante na kumikinang sa screen grabe ang presence niya in most of the scenes. Her character as tough, frank, sophisticated New Yorker, she delivers it well. Yung monologue niya sa confrontation scene of the family, she delivers it naturally na tumagos sa akin yung emotion na pinaramdam niya na that I almost cry. The rest of the casts are good, Enchong is natural, Janus is a good comic relief together with Toni ,bumagay din kay Sam yung role and they look good together ni Bea parehong mestizo at mestisa, Ms Carmi is funny and Ms. Coney is effective as strict mother.

Maganda ang response ng tao sa movie in terms of attendance and appreciation. 2 cinemas in SM Megamall and almost full doon sa sinehan na pinnooran ko almost the same scenario when I watch It Takes A Man… and tawanan din yun mga tao sa funny scenes ng movie and I felt that most of them cry on some of the scenes. And towards the end of the film the audience clapped that I rarely seen in a mainstream film, so bravo direk Cathy Garcia Molina, another brilliant directing for this film

After watching this film yayakapin mo ang nanay mo, ang tatay mo at ang mga kapatid mo you will appreciate more your family in your life na kahit anung mangyari sila pa rin ang karamay mo sa buhay and that is the message of the film that I hope the moviegoer engross to their self.
